SUNSHINE COAST TRANSPORT GUIDE

We can’t wait to welcome you to Strummingbird on the Sunny Coast. Chances are, the time you’re planning to arrive and leave will be a similar time to everyone else. To make your day as cruisy as possible, make sure you’re across the best ways to get to and from the festival below –

Best way to get to and from Strummingbird

Getting There: Free event shuttles will be available to get you to and from Strummingbird.

Services operate from Kawana Shoppingworld or Sunshine Coast Turf Club and will drop you right outside the Strummingbird on Sportsmans Parade!

Each shuttle runs straight between its pick-up spot and the festival, so it’s a simple, direct ride both ways.

Free Event Shuttles will run on loops from both locations from 11am until 4pm. 

Getting Home: Shuttles will depart from the same drop off location on Sportsmans Parade and will run directly to Kawana Shoppingworld and Sunshine Coast Turf Club. These services will run from 9:30pm. 

Look out for the signs directing you to the right queues. 

At the end of the evening, there will be additional shuttles to Mooloolaba and Caloundra. However, the easiest and speediest way to get home from the event is to lock in a spot to Caloundra by booking a MOTM transfer, details below.

Getting to and from Caloundra

The MOTM Caloundra return bus is the best way to guarantee your seat on a bus to and from Caloundra. It’s also the fastest way out of the festival at the end of the night, with no waiting around for shuttles to return. Tickets for the Caloundra return bus are on sale through MOTM, so lock in your spot HERE.

MOTM Coach Transfers

Getting There: MOTM buses will be running bus routes from near and far to get you to and from Strummingbird with ease. You can see a full list of MOTM routes and book your transfers HERE.

Getting Home: MOTM buses will depart from the same location as you were dropped off, so head back there at the end of the festival. Look for the sign that corresponds to your drop off location and jump in the queue!

Buses will leave shortly after the event finishes and won’t wait around for stragglers, so don’t wait too long to make a move.

Rideshare, Taxis and Drop-off

Getting There: If you’re getting dropped off in a car, taxi or rideshare, we recommend asking your driver to drop you off at Kawana Shoppingworld or Sunshine Coast Turf Club. From here, you can take one of our free event shuttles to the festival.  

Otherwise, head to our designated drop off area along Sportsman Parade via Main Drive. From here, there is a short walk to the festival entry. Bear in mind that there will be changed traffic conditions and congestion along Sportsmans Parade on event day.

Getting Home: Our free event shuttles will also be running at the end of the night – we recommend getting picked up from either Kawana Shoppingworld or Sunshine Coast Turf Club.

Alternatively, car, taxi, and rideshare pick up will be available in the same location as the festival site drop off, so head on back to Sportsmans Parade at the end of the night. 

Please encourage your driver to only use the dedicated drop off and pick up locations – these designated areas are in place to reduce road congestion and keep pedestrians safe!

Driving

There is no day parking available for Strummingbird Sunshine Coast. We recommend parking near one of our free event shuttle buses stops or using taxi or rideshare options to get to the event.

If you’re catching the shuttle bus from Kawana Shoppingworld, the closest parking is around the shopping centre precinct or in the Event Cinemas carpark.

If you’re catching the shuttle bus from Sunshine Coast Turf Club, there’s free parking onsite.

There is limited accessible parking available and these spaces must be reserved ahead of time. If you require access to accessible parking please email accessibility@strummingbird.com.au.

Camping at Strummingbird?

The entrance to the campground is off West Main Street, via Kawana Way. You will only be permitted entry to the campgrounds with a valid camping ticket purchased on Moshtix. 

Road Closures

There are road closures around Kawana Sports Precinct in the following locations:

• Sportsmans Parade
• Meridian Street
• Trade Lane

Surrounding streets will remain open but please expect some delays in the area due to traffic congestion. 

Other Tips / Info to know

• Plan ahead to make sure you know where you’re heading and you’ve got enough time for your journey so that you’re not rushing to get in and see your fave acts
• Follow the signs and directions of event staff, traffic controllers, and Queensland Police in and around the festival, and treat staff with kindness and respect – everyone wants to get you into and out of the festival as quickly and safely as possible! 
• Make a note of where you’ve been dropped so you know how to get home when the festival ends
• Tapping out early is the best way to beat the rush. If you’re sticking it out til the end, take your time making your way to the exit. Lots of food vendors and market stalls will stay open for a little longer to help re-energise you for the trip home
